U-Sports weekend football action saw the Concordia Stingers and Acadia Axemen score victories, and both teams have connections to Glengarry County.

In Atlantic Canada, Bainsville’s Darcy Thibaudeau is a student-athlete at Acadia University and a member of the Axemen football team, which beat the Saint Mary’s Huskies 28-18, to remain perfect at 7-0 on the season.
Thibaudeau is studying kinesiology and is an inside linebacker for the football team.
Concordia has two Glengarrians on its football roster. Rylan Duhart is a rookie walk-on lineman. He’s yet to see game action, dressing as a backup as he trains and waits for his opportunity. Alex Zarifi is in his second year with the Stingers, but continues to be sidelined by injury. Currently, he’s serving as a technical assistant to the coaching staff.
The Stingers were on the road this weekend in Sherbrooke where the needed a comeback effort to beat the Vert & Or 27-19. In the process, the win keeps Concordia’s (2-5) playoff hopes alive.
