Jr. B Rebels skate to shootout win in Embrun

Led by Isaac Testani’s three-goal effort and the shootout winner, the Char-Lan Rebels skated to a 6-5 Friday night win in Embrun.

His was the only tally in the shootout, as three Panthers failed to score, making a winner of Char-Lan goaltender Ceili Picard, who was named the game’s second star for his 27-save performance.

Testani, meanwhile, earned first-star honours. The 18-year-old forward hails from Ogdensburg, N.Y. and now has 13 goals in 10 games played with the Rebs.

Char-Lan built a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, but Embrun came back with a three-spot in the second stanza.

The Panthers stretched their advantage to 4-2 at the 22-second mark of the third. Testani, with his second goal of the game, cut into the deficit. Shortly after another Embrun marker, Char-Lan’s Alexandre Elie scored. The Rebels fought the rest of the way to get back onto even terms and finally, with just 87 seconds left in the game, Testani scored his hat-trick goal to square the affair.

Liam MacDonald also scored for Char-Lan, with assists on the night credited to Justice Brownlee, Taran Fiacco, Elie, and Joseph Samson.

Earlier in the week, the Rebels acquired Griffin Patterson from the Westport Rideaus, in exchange for a player development fee. The Morrisburg native wasn’t in the lineup Friday night. In 18 games with the Rideaus, the 5 ft. 10 in., 210 lb. forward scored 18 points.

Next up for Char-Lan is the capped on the 2019 portion of their CCHL2 schedule, as the team is scheduled to host the Richmond Royals on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

Junior B Rebels see win streak snapped at 3 games, Testani scoring streak extended

A three-game win streak came to an end on Thursday night, as the Char-Lan Rebels dropped a 7-3 road decision to the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

The December 12 CCHL2 contest saw Isaac Testani notch two points, with a goal and an assist. It was his seventh straight game with a marker.

The third game of the win streak came on December 8, when the Rebs topped the Whitewater Kings 2-1 in overtime. Joseph Samson Potter the OT winner. Testani had the regulation tally.

For the week ending December 10, Char-Lan defenceman Noah Konink was named the league’s third star. He racked up two goals and two assists during the Rebs’ win streak. The Long Sault native has 15 points on the season.
