Chelsea Cayer honoured twice as player of the game

St. Lawrence College women’s soccer team member Chelsea Cayer twice last weekend was honoured as her squad’s player of the game. On Friday night, she “played excellent defence and was instrumental in SLC’s 5-2 win” over George Brown, and Saturday she had a great game “against a strong Seneca side,” with the Vikings dropping the 1-0 decision.

Studying behavioural psychology, Cayer, a third-year midfielder, tells me that the soccer squad is based at the Kingston campus, though draws players from the other school locations as well. SLC consistently ranks as one of the better college soccer teams in the province and amongst the top 15 nationally.

The women have just one match remaining, scheduled for Friday at Algonquin. Playoffs will then follow, and as Cayer, who hails from Williamstown, adds, hopefully provincials, which this year are slated for October 23-26 in Ancaster.

The Vikings also feature another Williamstown athlete, as Emily MacDonald is the team’s goalkeeper.
