Chilly Willy Run set for Saturday in Williamstown

The 5th annual Chilly Willy Run will be held Saturday, November 2, in Williamstown, starting and finishing on the grounds of the Sir John Johnson Manor House. In advance of the event, which features half-marathon, 10 km, and 5 km courses, 69 runners had pre-registered. If you didn’t sign up online, you still can participate, as race day registration will open at 8 a.m., with the races themselves scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Official timing will be tracked by The Running Goat. Hot chilli, buns, coffee, and hot chocolate will be served at the finish line.

The event is a fundraiser for the Manor House. Race director is Sheila Lafave.

The weather forecast indicates a temperate of +1 Celsius for the start of the rain, with mostly sunny conditions and negligible to light winds.

Cameron, Fraser win Footrace titles

Green Valley’s Jacob Cameron won the 11 km distance of the Great Raisin River Footrace, crossing the finish line in 34 minutes, 22.1 seconds, besting runner-up Todd Piquette by nearly six minutes.

In the 5 km race, Isaac Fraser topped the field, with a best time of 16 minutes, 37.6 seconds, edging out Matthew Houlzet (17:03.9) and Tristan Bombardier (17:38.1).

The top female on the 11 km course was Gabrielle Laframboise (43:50.5), and on the 5 km run it was Zoe McIntosh (20:58.6).

Great Raisin River Footrace hits Williamstown on Sunday

The 41st annual Great Raisin River Footrace is scheduled for Williamstown, on Sunday, August 11, starting from and finishing at the Sir John Johnson Manor House. For the first time, Beyond 21 is the host of the race.

Online registration is closed, but those who still would like to participate can register bright and early on Sunday morning for either the 5 of 11 km runs. Races begin at 8:30 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age category. There’s also a kids fun run of 150 m at 8:15 a.m.
