The EOSHL Cornwall Prowlers last weekend concluded the home portion of their regular-season schedule with an 11-6 victory over the Maxville Millionaires, setting the stage for the team’s finale today on the road in Deseronto.
Semifinals are booked to begin February 8 against the very same Deseronto Bulldogs, so today’s contest will serve as a tune-up for both sides. Game two of the best-of-three semis is set for February 9 at the Cornwall Civic Complex, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Should a third game be needed, it will also be played in Cornwall on a date yet to be confirmed.
Regardless of today’s outcome, the Prowlers will finish the season in second place. The team enters the contest with a record of 13 wins, 2 regulation losses, and 2 overtime losses, for 28 points.
West Carleton tops the table at 30 points. Deseronto checks in with 9 points, while Maxville has 4 and will have to contend with the Rivermen in the playoffs.
Among other Cornwall squad notes, Marc Andre Labelle looks good to finish first in league points and assists, Jeff Clarke is positioned to lead the EOSHL in goals, and goaltender Frederick Roy appears set to finish with the most wins and has a chance at best goals-against average.
