Athletes representing the Alexandria Curling Club are competing today in Hudson at the Quebec Challenge Cup, an event that involves eight Ontario rinks and eight from la belle province.
Ben Lowe, a second-year student-athlete at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, placed fourth, with rounds of 73, 72, 74 at his school’s invitational golf tournament, helping to pace the Gaiters to a second-place finish, in the first RSEQ tournament of the year, at Milby Golf Club.
The graduate of Glengarry District High School who won the Glengarry Golf Club championship in August says he enjoyed his first university tournament of the season, describing the August 28-29 event in Sherbrooke as a fun one. Lowe’s score of 219 was just one stroke behind teammate Anthony Gosselin. Baptiste Mory, of Laval, won with 215.
In other statistical categories, Lowe tied for second in birdies (13) and second in the par 3 leaderboard (6 pars, 3 birdies).
Glengarry District High School graduate Odin Marfurt-Breakenridge is a product of his school football program as well as the OFC Cornwall Wildcat club, and this fall he will be showing his skills as a member of the Champlain Cougars CEGEP, in Lennoxville, Quebec.

The Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame recognized his high level of sports achievement (he starred in high school basketball as well) by naming him to the young athletes table at the 2019 induction ceremony, but due to his football schedule, he was unable to attend.
