CCHL2 Glens delay scheduled March 25 board meeting

Due to COVID-19 concerns and a Hockey Canada directive to cease all hockey-related activities, as well as an order by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit to close community and recreation facilities, the Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2 have deferred their board meeting, scheduled for March 25.

At this time of uncertainty in the sports world and otherwise, a new date for the meeting has not been set.

EOSHL sets league meeting for March 23

The Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (senior ‘A’) has scheduled a meeting for March 23, officially setting the stage for the second season of play, which is expected to include an expanded roster of teams.

For its first go-round, the EOSHL had four teams, with the playoff championship recently wrapping up, as the Cornwall Prowlers captured the inaugural trophy.

Among items on the agenda are expansion, with Smiths Falls already confirmed to be joining the EOSHL for the 2020-21 campaign. As well, officials at the meeting will discuss the next draft, roster moves, and 2019-20 season award winners.

Aside from the Prowlers, who played the bulk of their games out of Cornwall’s multi-sport complex, the first season of the EOSHL included the Maxville Millionaires, regular-season champions the West Carleton Rivermen, and the Deseronto Bulldogs.

Glens junior B hockey clubs sets public board meeting for March 25

The Alexandria Glens Hockey Club, which ices a team in the CCHL2 (junior ‘B’ hockey league), has scheduled a board meeting, open to the public, for Wednesday, March 25.

March 17 UPDATE: meeting postponed.

The meeting will be held in the community hall of the Glengarry Sports Palace, in Alexandria, starting at 7 p.m.

The Glens are community-owned, operated by a board of directors.

The president of the club is Derick Viau, and Jeremy Dubeau serves as vice-president.

Viau also serves as the team’s general manager. The assistant GM is Marc Sauve.

Job Opening for 2020-21 season

The Alexandria Glens are looking for a timekeeper on game days for the upcoming CCHL2 season, which will mark the club’s 53rd junior hockey campaign.
