XC running meet slated for November 15 (entry deadline November 11)

An open cross-country running meet, billed as the East Ontario Championships, will be held November 15, in Delta.

The Athletics Ontario-sanctioned event is a one-day meet, open to youth and adults. Full event information, and a registration link, are available here.

Age categories are U8, U10, U14, U16, U18, U20, Open, and Masters (30+). The competition takes place in Delta, at Lower Beverly Liar Park, and is hosted, in part, by the Brockville Legion Track Club.

The meet is one of three regional meets in the province.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, spectators will be limited in numbers, and the wearing of face masks will be mandatory (for spectators). Following the race, athletes will be asked to leave the area. There will be no on-site awards ceremony; instead, top finishers will be honoured online. There will be no provincial-level competition this year.

Here is the direct registration link.

Traditionally, cross-country running is a busy fall sport, with numerous meets and high school events. This year, due to COVID-19, there have been no sports hosted by high schools and limited other opportunities.
