Gaels boys basketball teams cap season with victories over Tagwi

Both boys basketball teams at Glengarry DHS capped off regular-season league play with victories over the Tagwi Warriors.

The Thursday action in Alexandria saw the junior Gaels prevail 46-43 in overtime. Jason Gingras paced the offence for the winning side, scoring 24 points, while Rowan McPherson had 17 including a trio of three-pointers. Tagwi’s top scorer was Landon Brownlee (14).

GDHS’ seniors won their contest handily, overpowering the Warriors 50-27. Gaels team members are Andrew MacMaster, Ethan Attridge, Lochlan MacDonald, Crew Rickerd, Josh Santourian, Nathan Noel, John Caddell, Seamus Hardy, Hamish MacLeod, and Berry Wassihun, and the team is coached by Katherine Adams.

Attridge drained 23 points to lead the Gaels, while Lochlan MacDonald had 12. The Warriors’ top point-getters were Joseph Jeeves and Wyatt Pilon, both of whom had 9.

The junior and senior Gaels basketball teams have qualified for SDGAA ‘A’ playoff action, which is scheduled for Tuesday at Holy Trinity.
