Char-Lan, St. Joseph’s battle to tie in boys hockey

At the last regular-season SDGAA high school hockey boys tournament played in Long Sault on February 5, teams representing Char-Lan and St. Joseph’s skated to a 3-3 tie.

In other action, the Crusaders got past Seaway 5-3. The Panthers edged Holy Trinity 3-1 and fell to Tagwi 3-2. The Warriors topped the Spartans 6-2.

The victories for the Warriors were key, moving the team into a playoff position. Char-Lan and St. Joseph’s top the table, though the Panthers get first place on the tie-breaker of head-to-head points.

Playoffs

The playoff tournament, featuring the top four squads, is scheduled for February 25 in Long Sault though the date and location are subject to change owing to workplace job action by teachers’ unions and/or the provincial government.
