Tagwi girls hand St. Joe’s first loss of high school hockey season

In high school girls hockey last week at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre, in Williamstown, the Tagwi Warriors edged the league-leading St. Joseph’s Panthers 1-0 to tighten the gap in the SDGAA standings.

The Warriors finished the day 2-1, with a 5-2 win over Char-Lan and a 1-0 loss to Holy Trinity, while the Panthers, in their only other game, edged Glengarry 2-1.

St. Joseph’s remains in the lead through three tournaments this season, but Tagwi is just one point back, tied with la Citadelle.

Other game results: les Patriotes 5 vs Gaels 0, Falcons 3 vs Glengarry 0, La Citadelle 5 vs Crusaders 2, Char-Lan 1 vs Holy Trinity 1.

The league’s next tourney is booked for Long Sault, on February 4.
