On the road in Renfrew Friday night, the Alexandria Glens, fresh off their upset win three nights earlier, found themselves humbled by the Timberwolves, who skated to a decisive 9-1 result.
The loss was the Glens’ third of 2020, to go against just one victory, the aforementioned Tuesday evening success over one of the league’s better teams, the Ottawa Jr. Canadians.
Friday’s action saw the Glens fall back to Earth, as Alexandria has struggled all season to find the win column, languishing in the basement of the CCHL2 Martin Division’s standings.
Nico Pozzebon notched the only goal for the White and Green boys, assisted by Nicolas Ouellette.
Tyler Desjardins started in net, pulled at the 28:56 (with Renfrew leading 4-1) mark in favour of Danik Martin who manned the hemp hut the rest of the way. Together the backstops made 23 saves.
The Alexandria squad was scheduled to play Saturday night in Williamstown, against the rival Char-Lan Rebels, but that game was postponed due to the weather and road conditions. A new date for this one is to be determined.
The next confirmed action for the Glens (5-21-2-1) is set for January 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Casselman, where the boys will take on the Vikings (18-12-2-0).
