The Char-Lan Rebels of the CCHL2 had been scheduled to drop the puck on the 2020 portion of their schedule last Saturday night on home ice, but the game versus the Winchester Hawks was postponed, due to the weather forecast.
Instead, the Rebs, after getting the night off, began the new year on the road in Arnprior, skating to a 4-2 loss versus the Packers.
Summy Mughal took the loss in net, despite stopping 36 of 40 shots against him.
The Packers opened the game with a 2-0 lead, off two first-period goals, before Char-Lan’s Noah Konink replied late in the frame, assisted by Owen Carter and Alexandre Elie.
After a scoreless second stanza, the Rebels drew even in the third, when Isaac Testani scored, off feeds from Tyler Branchaud and Carter. Arnprior restored its lead at the 9:41 mark of the period, before icing it with a tally in the final minute of the contest.
Char-Lan’s lone game on the docket this weekend is a date in Williamstown, with the Alexandria Glens set to visit the Char-Lan Rec. Centre at 8 p.m.
The Rebels are currently in sixth place in the Martin Division with 28 points and a 0.500 record.
