Maxville Millionaires open 2020 with victory

Wins have been difficult to come by for the EOSHL Maxville Millionaires in their inaugural season, but the squad started 2020 on the right skate with an 8-6 triumph over the Deseronto Bulldogs on January 4.

Connor MacLeod paced the attack with three goals. Calvin Wojtaszak potted a pair, and Adam Wensink notched a goal and an assist. Other marksmen were Bradley Gabbour (game-winner), and Braedan Pearl.

Helpers also were credited to Pierre Luc Sabourin (3), Tristen Elie (2), Pearl, Chris Rutley, Tye Terrance, Jacob Swamp, Leo MacLean, and Gabbour.

Maxime Boucher, with 37 saves in the hemp hut, backstopped the win.

For the Millionaires, this was the team’s second victory of the 2019-20 season, to go against 12 losses. The Bulldogs’ record dropped to 4-8-0-1.
