Hockey With Heart fundraiser tourney nixed for 2020

Each of the past three years, Colton Gallant and Allister Macdonell have assembled a team of volunteers to organize a fundraiser hockey tournament, played on the outdoor rink in Williamstown. Money collected from the events supported local charities. Unfortunately, there will be no tourney in 2020.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide everyone with an update in regards to the status of Hockey With Heart. Unfortunately Allister Macdonell and I have both been extremely busy this year and have decided to take the year off from the event. I would like to personally thank everyone who has supported our initiative over the past three years. The tournament would not have been the same without all of you.

Three years ago, the young duo began Hockey With Heart to “give back to the community.” Gallant and Macdonell noted that as they both love the sport of hockey, they wanted to find a way to “get others involved and connected in charitable work.”

Through a combination of entry fees, canteen sales, and individual and business donations, the tournament last year supported the Julie MacLachlan Charitable Foundation and Beyond 21.
