Peewee house Highlanders score silver at Cornwall tourney

The Glengarry Girls Hockey Association peewee house Highlanders team snagged silver at the recent Cornwall tournament, skating to a 2-1 result against Kanata in the final.

The girls had a 3-1 record after round-robin action, for fourth place.

In their quarter-final, the Highlanders tangled with the host Cornwall side, prevailing in a shootout, 2-1. Their semifinal pitted them against Carleton Place, a team that had previously given Glengarry its only loss of the tournament. This time, the Highlanders were victorious, skating to a 2-1 win in overtime, after tying the contest late in the third period.

The Highlanders’ silver-medal performance came in a competition that featured 15 teams.
