Home-ice Saturday night loss for Char-Lan Rebels

Char-Lan’s CCHL2 hockey team suffered a 7-5 home-ice loss on Saturday night, falling to the Westport Rideaus, despite a three-point night from Rebel Joseph Samson, who contributed two goals and one assist.

Goaltender Cole Eakins was on the hook for the loss and all seven goals, on 27 shots. Devon Popp replaced him with 8:40 left in the game.

Matt Harvey, Paul Waldhauser, and Rylan Iwachniuk also scored for Char-Lan.

Additional assists went to Owen Carter (2), Noah Konink, Dillon Spinner, Iwachniuk, Alexandre Elie, and Evan Huntley.

Samson was named third star of the game for his offensive effort. The 19-year-old forward from Cornwall leads the Rebels in points, with 19, and is scoring at a 1.58 points-per-game pace, which is ninth-best in the league.
