At the Vault, otherwise known as the Maxville Sports Complex, on Saturday afternoon, the Cornwall Prowlers stole another senior ‘A’ hockey win from the Maxville Millionaires – the second in as many weekends – this time topping the local men 8-7.
Offensively for the visitors it was the Jeff Clarke show, as the Cornwall player racked up six points, including 5 goals. Marc Andre Labelle counted five points (1 goal, 3 assists), and Gabriel Veilleux had 4 helpers. Other Prowlers marksmen were Brian Landry and Dylan Stacey, while chalking up assists were Kris McCarthy, Chris Rutley, Jacob Dawson, and Mitchell Gibson.
Frederic Roy backstopped the victory, making 24 saves. Maxville goaltender Nicholas St-Laurent took the loss, facing 42 shots on goal.
Stevie Ray Adams paced the Millionaires in points, notching 2 goals and an assist. Pierre-Luc Sabourin had a goal and an assist, as did Josh Timpano, and Brandon Watt scored a pair. Ryan Allen had one tally. Earning other helpers were Tristen Elie, Kenny Neil, Chris Newhook, Bradley Gabbour, and Ian Boots (2).
With the loss, the Maxville squad remains winless, at 0-2. Cornwall improves to 2-1, with both wins coming at the expense of the Millionaires. Rounding out the standings, West Carleton is 1-0, while Deseronto is 1-1.
The Millionaires next match is booked for October 12 in Deseronto, while the Prowlers next will host West Carleton, also on Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m., at Cornwall’s multi-sport complex.
