Friday night saw the Alexandria Glens skate to a much needed CCHL2 victory, as the junior ‘B’ hockey team prevailed at the Glengarry Sports Palace 4-1 over the Renfrew Timberwolves.
Jacob Lefebvre’s two goals paced the Glens’ offence to the win. Also scoring were Brendon Watson and Tyson Allard. Assists went to Alexim Veilleux (2), Kyle Joly, Austin Gaspar, Daniel Scott, and Hunter MacPherson.
Goaltender Nicolas Rousseau backstopped the win, making 34 saves.
Neither team scored on a power play. Alexandria went zero for four, while Renfrew was shut down in five opportunities.
The victory was just the second of the season for the Glens, improving the team’s record to 2 wins, 8 losses, and 1 overtime loss. Regardless, Alexandria remains in the Martin Division basement, and both the teams above them have games in hand.
Despite the team’s record, Rousseau maintains the league’s ninth best goals against average (2.63) and sixth best save percentage (0.930).
