In a rare Sunday afternoon junior ‘B’ hockey game today in Williamstown, the Char-Lan Rebels, backstopped by goaltender Devon Popp, sunk the Whitewater Kings 7-3.
It was quite the game for Liam MacDonald, who wears jersey number 18, as the forward from Dunvegan scored a goal, chalked up two assists, and engaged in a third-period fight for good measure. In all, the 19-year-old veteran hit the showers with 17 penalty minutes.
It was also a three-point match for Paul Waulhause, who had three apples. Other Char-Lan goal scorers were Ben Pineault, Graham Robertson, Wade Moak, Kale MacCormick, Evan Huntley, and Joseph Samson. Additional assists went to Dillon Spinner, Owen Carter, Pineault, Moak, and Samson. Popp made 14 saves for the win in net.
The victory came less than 24 hours after dropping a road game 4-2 to the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians. Taran Fiacco and Tim Cook scored for the Rebels, with assists from Campbell Craig, MacCormick, and Samson. Dawson Irving took the loss in goal, facing 43 shots.
Char-Lan sits at the 0.500 mark through two weeks of play, with a 2-2 record.
