Peewee Wildcats secure win over visiting Bengals

At times it wasn’t pretty, but the peewee Cornwall Wildcats did what they needed to do in order to garner the win, beating the visiting Orleans Bengals in Sunday afternoon NCAFA football action 27-24.

Really, though, this one should not have been much of a contest. Much of the Bengals offence came on big plays, where one Orleans player seemingly was elusive and able to run untouched the distance. The ‘Cats seemed mesmerized.

In terms of the scoring, Nick McAuley accounted for a trio of touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) and Carter Camplin rushed for one major and passed to McAuley for his receiving score. Zachary Aubin kicked three of four extra points. McAuley racked up 269 all-purpose yards, Camplin had 91 passing yards (a long of 30).

Regardless, as the saying goes, a win is a win, and with the victory, the squad improved its record to 3-2 on the season.

Sweep on the day

All Wildcats teams in action Sunday won, making it a sweep on the day. Tyke 1 prevailed in its game 46-30, the mosquitos won 24-0, and the bantams triumphed 45-0.
