Junior ‘B’ Rebels prevail in home opener

Char-Lan’s junior ‘B’ hockey team won it’s 2019-20 CCHL2 season home opener on Saturday night, with a 2-1 result over the visiting Ottawa Jr. Canadian’s, as the Char-Lan Rec. Centre in Williamstown.

Joseph Samson scored the game-winner with just 45 seconds left on the clock, whilst his team was short-handed.

The teams traded goals in the second period, with Char-Lan’s coming from Liam MacDonald, assisted by Samson and Kale MacCormick.

Dawson Irving backstopped the win, with 23 saves.

The previous night in Winchester, the Rebels dropped a tight 3-2 decision to the Hawks. Samson had two points (1 goal, 1 assist). MacCormick also scored, and Dillon Spinner had an assist. Devon Popp faced 37 shots on goal, in the Char-Lan net.
