Craig hangs up skates, Sandilands switches to U-Sports hockey

Williamstown’s Grant Craig, formerly goaltender of the junior ‘B’ Char-Lan Rebels, is hanging up his skates and equipment this year to focus on his studies at Carleton University, where he is pursuing a degree in journalism.

The 20-year-old backstop was a workhorse for the Rebs last season, seeing action in 24 regular-season games and 7 more in the playoffs. It was his third winter with the club, as his best statistically, as he recorded a 3.79 goals-against average during the regular season.

This fall, Craig enters his third year of university studies.

Roddie Sandilands, who last season skated as a defenceman with the QMJHL Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, will be attending St. Francis Xavier University this year to study for a B.Sc. (health) degree and skate with the school’s hockey team.
