GSL championship season begins with U14 boys

The first 2019 soccer championship has been claimed, as the U14 boys squad prevailed 10-2 over Alexandria on August 12 to win the Glengarry Soccer League title.

In semifinal play the week previous, Vankleek Hill dispatched Maxville 4-3, while Alexandria needed overtime to get past Laggan / Glen Sandfield, 4-3.

Upcoming Final Matches

The U19 girls championship match, featuring Alexandria and Vankleek Hill, is scheduled to be played August 19, at 8:30 p.m., under the lights at Alexandria’s Island Park.

August 15 on the pitch at Laggan Public School, Laggan / Glen Sandfield will battle Maxville for the U17 boys title. Opening kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Semifinals in the U16 girls category are booked for August 22, with the championship match seven days later. Vankleek Hill currently sits atop the table, with just one loss in 11 regilar-season games this season.

The U12 boys are in playoffs now. Their championship match is slated for August 28.

U12 girls semifinals are set for tonight, August 14, on fields in Alexandria and Williamstown, with the title tilt booked for August 20.
