The OFC Cornwall Wildcats provincial football team nabbed a road victory last weekend in Peterborough, beating the Wolverines 24-21. The boys overcame the heat and injuries to prevail, improving their record to 3-2-1.
Two of the Wildcats’ touchdowns came on defence. Alexandria’s Max Sabourin had a pick six, while Nolan Shane recovered a fumble and carried the pigskin to the house.
Looking ahead, the squad will be back on its home field this weekend, scheduled to play Saturday, July 6 at Joe St. Denis Field, hosting the Etobicoke Eagles (3-2) at 4 p.m. This match is an important one, with playoff implications, as the teams battle for third place in the OFC East Division.
