The Glengarry Gaels youth football program recently concluded its spring season with two of three teams claiming Seaway Valley Football League titles. The tykes and mosquitoes both prevailed on championship day, June 23, on their home gridiron in Alexandria. For the mosquito Gaels, the triumph capped off a perfect season.
Glengarry bantams reached the semifinal round, where they bowed out the previous week. The Gaels didn’t field a peewee entry this year, due to insufficient numbers; instead, several Glengarry players of that level suited up for one of four Cornwall peewee squads.
Congratulations to the tyke and mosquito Gaels, as well as to the Cornwall Wildcats teams that won the peewee and bantam titles.
This year marked a changing of the guard behind the scenes for Glengarry football, as Ian Parent has taken on the presidency of the club, from former co-presidents Costa Zarifi and Jeff Dorn, who had led the program since its establishment.
