Curling is a great sport

Each year at this time, I get to do one of my favourite parts of my job: organize The Glengarry News High School Curling Challenge.

The 11th annual bonspiel, which features mixed rinks from Char-Lan, GDHS, Holy Trinity, and Le Relais was held Friday, Dec. 11 at the Lancaster Curling Club. I won’t spoil my story to be published in the upcoming issue of The Glengarry News by telling you the results here, but I will say it was an exciting day that came down to the last of the six draws.

Over the course of the day I took plenty of photos, some of which will find their way into the newspaper, while others will be processed for our website gallery.

The bonspiel serves as a fun, warm-up event for our local high schools. Teams typically practise on their own and enter one of two open events, leading up to the official SD&G competition in February.

On behalf of The News, I would like to extend my thanks to the curlers and coaches, and to the Lancaster Curling Club and its volunteers for the day, especially Ashley Lapierre.
